The castable are made with different proportions of cement or binders like HAC (high alumina cement), colloidal silica or hydratable aluminas. For the manufacture of the refractory materials, many metal oxides are used viz., silica, magnesia, alumina, lime and sometimes free clay as well. The refractory castable cement used is chemically tested in laboratories. According to the scope of utility, additive chemicals are used to decrease the concentration of cement or water for strength and durability. Cement accelerators are used at spraying nozzles to increase the hardening process.
